Buyers: How to Get the Seller to Accept Your Offer over Your Competition
The current housing market can be tough and there is nothing that brings a home buyer down more than having multiple offers rejected. There are many factors that a seller looks at when accepting offers including price and financing methods. If you have been rejected on multiple properties, taking a step back and evaluating where your offers are weak can give you better insight on where to proceed in the future. Your Realtor should be able to gain insight from the listing agent as to why your offer was not accepted. If the problem is price, consider whether you should start looking at lower priced homes if you were at your max on previous offers.
“Dr. Phil might say “Get Real!” If you’ve made several offers and all have been rejected, then you need to look at the strategy that you’ve been using. If you’ve been lowballing all of the offers, shame on you – that boat sailed two years ago. Shame on your Realtor, too, for allow that to happen. If you’ve made several offers that you and your Realtor felt were good offers but have lost out to other bids, then it’s time to reassess both what you are bidding on, the content of your bids and how aggressive you may have to become to get the house that you want in the current tight market.”
